DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY SCIENCE

Master’s Degree in Library Science (M. Lib. & In. Sc.) one year course began from the session 2002-03. Such personals will occupy various positions in Libraries, Documentation centers and Information centers / Institutions in the country at various levels. For instance, professionally trained human resource at different level is necessary to manage libraries. In schools, Colleges, Universities, Governmental Departments, Commercial and Industrial establishment, Science Research Institution, R & D establishment, Public Libraries, Doordrshan Kendra and Radio Station etc. set up by Central and State Governments and Local Bodies.

The University has started Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science (B. Lib. & In. Sc.) in 2001 in response to the pressing demand of large number of trained professionals in the field of Library and Information Science. The department has well equipped computer lab with internet facility. The Central Library of the University has a separate section for Library and Information Science books.

Eligibility of Applicants for Admission Test / Admission

For M. Lib. & In. Sc. (One Year):

The candidate should have graduate degree in Library Science (B. Lib. & In. Sc. / BLIS) from recognized university with 45% marks.

For B. Lib. & In. Sc.:

The candidate should have graduate degree of a recognized University in any discipline with 45% marks.

Mode of Admission Test

For M. Lib. & In. Sc. (One Year):

Admission will be through admission test (based on B. Lib. & In. Sc. syllabus) / Merit. The admission test questions shall be objective type, multiple choices with negative marking.

For B. Lib. & In. Sc.:

Admission shall be made on the basis of admission test / Merit. Admission test questions shall be objective type, multiple choices with negative marking.
