DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY, CULTURE AND ARCHEOLOGY

The Department of History, Culture and Archaeology was established in the year 1985. The basic motive behind its establishment was to develop higher education and to accelerate the research activities amongst the students. The department obtained a license from A.S.I., New Delhi for exploration / excavation activities of Faizabad and Barabanki under the direction of Professor V.K. Pandey during 1994-96. The places explored in the twin districts were Maniparvat, Sugriva Mound, Surhurpur, Bhiti, Kurawan and Nandigram. The discovered antiques have been preserved in the department / displayed in the Kosal Museum. The Department conducts four Refresher courses sponsored by the U.G.C., New Delhi from 11 to 31st December 1995 and 21 May to June 10, 1996 and March 22 to April 11, 1998.
